Bidding in this sale has now finished. Thank you all for your support. I will be contacting all successful bidders over the next few days to request payment and work out arrangements for delivery/collection. In a small number of cases the highest bid may not have reached the reserve. In this case I will ask the highest bidder if they are prepared to meet the reserve. If not, I will contact the underbidder. Please be patient during this process - I do not have the facilities of eBay at my disposal.
The library holds at least three copies of each of these items, except the bound volumes of Church Bells. They are being disposed of to free up shelf space in accordance with an agreement reached at the Central Council meeting in 1959: ‘It was agreed that the librarian be given power to dispose of copies in excess of two of books in the Library printed since 1850.’
The condition of the items ranges from pristine to dilapidated. Irrespective of condition, this represents a rare opportunity to obtain copies of some of these scarce works. Those unable to examine the items in person at the Outreach Day can obtain descriptions and images from the librarian before making a bid.
The postage and packing charges indicated cover only those items. Any compensation element would be at extra cost. I would prefer personal collection/delivery for the larger or more valuable items. P&p charges will be combined for multiple purchases.
Bids should be sent to the Librarian by 30th April 2013. Bidders may follow the progress of the bidding on this page and successful bidders will be informed in time to arrange collection, if desired, at the CC meeting in Guildford. By request, the librarian will keep informed those bidders who do not have access to the internet. To protect the assets of the library, reserves will be in place for some or all of the items. If the reserve has not been reached by the closing date, bidders will be asked if they wish to increase their bid. The Library Committee does not undertake to accept the highest, or any, bid. A list of the successful bids, but not the bidders, will be available from the Librarian.
